Venue Location

The most common and most expensive problem related to flooring failures is moisture. These issues can add significant cost to a project via schedule delays, unexpected costs associated with topical systems, flooring replacement, and litigation, not to mention the costs associated with damage to business reputation. These problems are costly to fix, but there are ways to help prevent these problems from happening. As a CM/PM professional, you need to know the steps that can be taken to mitigate these risks for your clients.

Join us for this session, sponsored by Sun Interiors, Ltd. And Carr Stone & Tile, which will provide a review the various types of moisture related flooring problems and what causes them, as well as learning how to distinguish and understand the various moisture contributing factors in a concrete substrate. You will also learn about moisture testing methods and utilization of test results. Preventative and corrective methods and materials for moisture issues on concrete substrate will also be discussed.

As sponsored by Sun Interiors, Ltd. and Carr Stone & Tile, Chip O’Rear, CSI, CCPR, CTC, CCSMTT, LEED AP, with Custom Building Products, will be presenting. Mr. O’Rear serves as a technical representative for tile and stone installation projects to the A/E/D community throughout the Southeast. For over 25 years, installation products, methods, specifications and failure investigation have been Mr. O’Rear’s areas of expertise. He has participated in every Technical Committee and Standards Development Group in the Tile Industry. In addition to being an AIA Registered Provider, he is also a hands-on installer/trainer, and a due diligence inspector. Technical education is Mr. O’Rear’s passion; preparing specific and unambiguous tile installation specifications to promote uniform bidding and proper tile work is his mission.
